Thread Faction - Bespoke Briefs Blog Tour!

Hi sewing friends!

I know you're all here as part of the blog tour by Thread Faction. I was SO excited when Liz asked me to be a part of the fun! I've always wanted to participate in a blog tour :)

I had the privilege of testing for Liz before. She has excellent communication, and her patterns are always really easy to understand.

For this pattern, I wasn't a tester (as I'm EXTREMELY pregnant), so I don't have any photos of me wearing them. This is the second time I've attempted flat lays, and I'm hopeful you can all see how awesome these briefs are!

They are a very fast sew. As in, an hour and a half from printing to completed project...including interruptions from my three cherubs. AND, I'm a slow sewist! This is a hobby for me, not a business, so I try to wring every minute of pleasure out of creating a new item, regardless of how long it takes. It is my 'alone' time, and recharges my batteries. Sewing is such a great creative outlet!

The briefs come with FOUR different finishing options and all variations are thoroughly explained. You could make it with: lingerie elastic, fabric bands or two different styles of fold over elastic.

This pattern is truly suited for a beginner sewist, as the instructions are so detailed.

My absolute favourite step in this pattern is how to assemble to liner. I have made panties from several different designers, and this is the nicest way of constructing a pair of panties I've seen yet. Very tidy!

I used my overlocker to tidy up the front seams, but I could have easily skipped this step if I didn't have one. Its hard to see in my photos, but the briefs have front seams, instead of side seams. I think this is ideal! Side seams tend to dig into my chubby bits, but the front seams don't. #winning

Upon my Husband's suggestion (he makes the fabric choice for all of my creations - what would I do without him?!) I used Smoogie's Space Lace in cotton lycra. I also used 5/8" FOE sourced locally.

For my next pair, I'm going to use a different fabric selection for the front piece, as compared to the back, to highlight the panel. And, because I have a baby due in about 2 weeks, I'm going to get a head start on my Christmas sewing, and make a whole heap of these for my relatives. ;)
